Jim began illustrating Christmas themes in 1940 and continued for over thirty years. The abundance of imagery related to the Christmas story and its traditions made it an endless source of inspiration for articles, books and greeting cards. Jim experimented with a variety artistic styles in these works, employing whatever worked best for the particular subject - from reverential realism to contemporary and colorful graphics. This work was featured in Life magazine, the Golden book of Christmas Tales (written by Lillian), and used for cards by Hallmark and American Artists Group. Please see below for originals and reproductions of Christmas paintings as well as lively sketches that also capture the spirit of the season!
